Bengaluru: In response to the ongoing heavy rainfall and an alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Bengaluru Urban District administration has declared the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centers today. Deputy Commissioner Jagadish G. announced the decision as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of children during the adverse weather conditions.
Notably, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for the city, cautioning of continued rainfall over the coming days. Forecasts indicate that temperatures will range between 20 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, with even heavier rains predicted by October 25. Cloudy skies are expected to persist through October 26.

Colleges, ITI’s to remain operational despite heavy rains
Despite the shutdown of schools, colleges and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) will remain operational. Authorities have instructed educational institutions to refrain from using any structurally compromised buildings and urged management to take measures to protect students from areas prone to waterlogging. College administrations have been advised to educate students about safety protocols during natural disasters.
Continuous downpour in Bengaluru
The city has been battling continuous downpours for the last three days, with several localities facing severe flooding, particularly around Yelahanka. Deputy Chief Minister revealed that the situation worsened after a lake embankment in Dasarahalli breached, leading to further inundation. Flooding has also impacted multiple layouts in the Mahadevapura zone, including Basava Samithi Layout, Tata Nagar, and Bhadrappa Layout.
