Bengaluru: The city police have arrested the owner and contractor of the under-construction building that collapsed in Bengaluru yesterday. Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against Bhuvan Reddy, the building’s owner, along with three others believed to be involved, including Muniraj Reddy, Mohan Reddy, and Elumalai.
Notably, Bhuvan Reddy, the son of Muniraj Reddy, is suspected to have played a key role in the construction of the ill-fated building. In addition, Muniyappa, the contractor overseeing the project, has been taken into custody for violating construction regulations and exceeding the permitted limits.
Building collapse claims 5 lives, 13 rescued so far
Earlier on Wednesday evening a devastating incident occurred where, a seven-storey building under construction collapsed in the Horamavu Agara area of eastern Bengaluru, claiming the lives of five people. The collapse occurred during heavy rainfall, compounding the challenges for rescue teams working around the clock to clear debris and reach those trapped. However, it is worth mentionig that according to official reports, 13 individuals have been rescued so far. Meanwhile, the search and rescue operations are still ongoing, with emergency personnel racing against time to locate any remaining survivors.
The victims of the collapse have been identified as Harman (26), Tripal (35), Mohd Sahil (19), Sathya Raju (25), and Shankar. Meanwhile, rescue teams resumed their efforts early Wednesday morning, braving the heavy rain that drenched the city. To enhance their search operations, a canine unit was deployed to assist, as reported by the news agency ANI.
