Bengaluru: India’s tech capital, is battling flood-like conditions after heavy rainfall earlier this week, and more rain is on the horizon, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has predicted “generally cloudy skies with light rain” for Friday, with temperatures expected to hover around 21 degrees Celsius. It is worth mentioning that currently a ‘yellow alert’ is in effect with the anticipation of more rains in the Indian tech capital.
Meanwhile, the city experienced severe flooding, particularly in the northern regions, after a thunderstorm struck on Tuesday night. Although the water levels have receded from most of the affected areas, certain pockets remain submerged due to stagnant water.

At least 1,000 homes affected across Bengaluru: BBMP
Officials from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) reported that over 1,000 homes in 28 residential areas, primarily in the Yelahanka zone, were inundated on Monday night. Despite ongoing efforts to drain the water, some parts of the city remained flooded until Tuesday evening. While most of the water has been cleared, the Kendriya Vihar Apartments in Yelahanka continues to grapple with lingering floodwaters.
As Bengaluru attempts to recover from the earlier deluge, the IMD has issued a warning of more rainfall over the coming days. Light to moderate rain is expected to hit isolated parts of Karnataka throughout the week, leading authorities to stay on high alert for potential disruptions.
Building collapse claims 8 lives in Bengaluru
Notably,a heartbreaking building collapse in Babusapalya, near Hennur which claimed 8 lives, has also led to the rescue of 13 people trapped under the rubble. In the aftermath, authorities have arrested the building’s owner, his son, and the contractor as they investigate the cause of this tragic incident. Rescue teams are on the ground, diligently clearing the site and searching for any additional victims who may still be trapped in the debris.
