‘Battlefield not a solution to any problem’: PM Modi bats for diplomacy in Ukraine, West Asia

Warsaw: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a 2-day visit to Poland and Ukraine, said that the battlefield is not a solution to any of the problems. He said that dialogue and diplomacy are important in resolving international disputes, citing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and escalating military tensions between Iran and Israel in West Asia as examples and urged nations to engage in peaceful negotiations rather than resorting to military action.  “The conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are worrying, but the solution to any issue doesn’t lie on the battlefield… we support dialogue and diplomacy,” he stated in a joint statement with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk.

PM Modi also thanked Poland for its assistance in rescuing Indian students stranded during the Ukraine-Russia war in 2022. “I want to thank the government and the people of Poland for this. People of India can never forget the help you have extended in rescuing Indian students during the Ukraine conflict in 2022,” PM Modi said in his address.

The prime minister also extended thanks to his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk for the warm welcome. “I want to thank PM Tusk for giving me a warm welcome in the beautiful city of Warsaw. You have been a friend of India for a long time and you have a huge contribution to enhancing the relationship between India and Poland,” he added.
