New Delhi: The slogan “Batoge to Katoge” (Divided you will fall), coined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is going places. Now, it has appeared on a wedding invitation card in Gujarat. A BJP worker in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, has got this slogan printed on his brother’s wedding card. Besides, the card features a message promoting cleanliness alongside a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The wedding is to be held in Wangar village of Mahuva tehsil of Bhavnagar district of Gujarat on November 23.
The unique invitation card has grabbed many eyeballs. The BJP worker, who got it printed on the card, said that he used the slogan to make people aware and spread the message of PM Modi. Apart from PM Modi and CM Yogi, the Ram Temple also features on the card. Along with this, messages of cleanliness and adoption of Swadeshi have also been given in the card.
When was the slogan coined
During the campaigning for Haryana assembly elections, UP CM Yogi Adityanath in August gave the slogan ‘Batoge to Katoge’. While calling for unity and warning that divisiveness can lead to unrest and breaking up, the chief minsiter had cited the example of Bangladesh that has seen months of turmoil, and violence.
“Nothing is above the country. The country will be empowered only when we are united. ‘Batenge to katenge’. Look at what’s happening in Bangladesh. We shouldn’t make those mistakes here…,” he had said.
Since then, the slogan has been used in the political rallies and has generated a lot of attention. Even in the poll-bound states of Maharashtra and Jharkhand, political parties are using this slogan. The slogan’s impact will also be apparently visible in the by-elections to be held on nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh soon.
On October 25, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh backed Yogi Adityanath’s remark ‘Bantoge to Katoge’, claiming that Hindus ‘will be slaughtered if divided’. RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said that the slogan calls for unity among Hindus.
