Dehradun: A satellite phone was found with an American citizen during a security check at Jolly Grant Airport. The banned device was recovered from Joshua Ivan Richardson, who had come to India on an e-tourist visa.
Following this, a case has been registered against him, and he is currently being questioned about the phone.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) handed over Richardson to the Jolly Grant Police Station after initial interrogation. SI Madhu Yadav from CISF Jolly Grant filed a report, leading to the registration of a case against Richardson under Section 4/20 of the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and Section 3/6 of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933.

The American citizen, who arrived in India on an e-tourist visa, was staying with a friend in Rishikesh. The satellite phone was seized during CISF checking while he was boarding a flight to Delhi from Jolly Grant Airport yesterday.

After preliminary interrogation by CISF, the said American citizen was handed over to Police Post Jolly Grant, in this regard, on the basis of the complaint given by SI Madhu Yadav, CISF Jolly Grant, a case was registered against the American citizen under Section 4/20 of the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and Section 3/6 of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933. The said American citizen is being interrogated by the police and other concerned agencies.
