New Delhi: Bangladeshi radicals were involved in the recent Murshidabad violence sparked by the agitations of the anti-Waqf Amendment Act in West Bengal, according to sources who attributed it to an intelligence report.
According to a report by news agency PTI, sources quoted an intel report, revealing that two Bangladesh-based radical organisations – Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ATB) – were allegedly involved in the violence witnessed in the West Bengal district, claiming three lives thus far.
The Bangladeshi miscreants are said to have the assistance of local leaders of a political party.
The Union Home Ministry is closely monitoring the situation in Murshidabad. The big measure was made by the ministry is to deploy central forces along with the state police to control the situation and maintain law and order in the ravaged region.
Additionally, the Border Security Force (BSF) was asked to be vigilant at the India-Bangladesh border in order to prevent external forces from instigating in the West Bengal region.
According to a News18 report, intelligence agencies said that some banned terror organisations are pressuring the Bangladesh government to radicalise the young minds. And those organisations are said to have presence in West Bengal.
On Friday (April 11) and Saturday (April 12), violent protests erupted in the districts of West Bengal. In Murshidabad, Suti, Dhulian and Jangipur. Personnel of the BSF, CRPF, RAF and state police were deployed in these regions.
Over 200 people have been arrested in connection to the Murshidabad violence. No violence was reported in the past 48 hours and according to the state police, shops have reopened and displaced families are coming back to their homes, indicating normalcy.
