Bahraich: The police have arrested six more people in connection with the Bahraich violence that led to the murder of an individual during the Durga Puja immersion process last month. Among those arrested include an alleged key conspirator of the incident. With these arrested the number of those attested in the case has moved up to 121.
The arrested six have been identified as Shakeel Ahmed, his brothers Farhan Raza (24) Mohammad Irfan (29), apart from Tausif (25), Haseeb (33), and Noorani (28). They were sent to jail after being produced in court. The six were arrested after 19 people were detained for questioning.
Police went through CCTV cameras to track the Bahraich violence accused
The probe was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari. The police team also went through CCTV footage and digital evidence to track those who were allegedly involved in the case. Sharing further details, Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla said two cases regarding the were registered at Hardi police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, including 191(2) (rioting), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 103(2) (murder), 109 (attempt to murder), and under the Arms Act in connection with Ram Gopal Mishra’s murder.
Three Bahraich riot suspects remain at large
Notably, three more suspects, Saif Ali, Javed, and Shoaib continue to remain at large The police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of these suspects. The situation in Maharajganj and other nearby areas is stable and under control at the moment.
On October 13, Mishra, a resident of Rehua Mansoor village, died after he was shot at during the violence in Maharajganj town. Soon after, communal violence took place in Mahsi, Maharajganj, and Bahraich city on October 13 and 14.
