After the stone-pelting on an idol in Maharajganj and the murder of a youth Ram Gopal Mishra, an agitated crowd was protesting at the hospital intersection. In this regard, BJP Mahsi MLA Sureshwar Singh has filed a case against seven named individuals, including the BJP City President, as well as unidentified persons. This is being hotly discussed in the district. The BJP MLA has accused the crowd of stone-pelting and firing on his convoy and has lodged a complaint at the city police station.
The FIR was filed by MLA Mahsi Sureshwar Singh at the city police station on October 13. The FIR states that during the violence in Maharajganj, a crowd was protesting by placing the body of the deceased, Ram Gopal, at the gate outside the Bahraich Medical College. Singh, along with his bodyguards and other associates, approached the people near the body. Following this, they went to meet the District Magistrate at the CMO office, where the CMO and the City Magistrate were also present, the FIR added.
Accompanied by everyone, he returned to the deceased’s relatives and villagers to talk and began to take the body to the mortuary when some miscreants, including BJP City President Arpit Srivastava and other BJP workers Anuj Singh Raikwara, Shubham Mishra, Kushmendra Chaudhary, Manish Chandra Shukla, Panduric Pandey, a teacher, sector coordinator Sundhashu Singh Rana, and an unidentified mob, started shouting slogans and hurling abuses, the FIR claimed.
‘They started pelting stones at car’
After placing the body in the mortuary, as he and the District Magistrate moved forward and the car turned, the aforementioned individuals began to pelt stones at the car with the intent to stop it and to kill the remaining people. During this time, firing from the crowd took place. The car’s window was broken, and his son, Akhand Pratap Singh, had a close shave. The incident is clear from the CCTV footage, Singh added in the FIR.
The BJP District President confirmed Arpit is the BJP City President. The city police have filed a case against the accused for rioting, attacking with deadly weapons, attempted murder, endangering personal safety, and other charges.
