Bahraich: Days after massive violence and killing of a 22-year-old man in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh in communal violence, questions are being raised over contradiction in police and the autospy report in connection with the murder of Ram Gopal Mishra.
It is reported that the Bahraich police have ruled out ‘torture theory’ in Ram Gopal’s death, while autopsy report reveal some kind of ‘torture’ in the death. Violence broke out in Bahraich during durga idol immersion on October 13.
How the incident unfolded
Viral videos shows the deceased Ram Gopal Yadav climbing house of a Muslim and removing the green flag at the railing. He also smashed the iron grill at the house and hoisted a bhagwa flag. Moments later he was allegedly shot dead at the roof itself.
Some of the videos available in public space shows injury marks on the deceased’s chest, head, and toenails. These videos that emerged after Gopal’s death shows these injury marks which now contradict the police’s version.
Bahraich DIO Gulam Waris Ali removed
Meanwhile, Bahraich’s District Information Officer (DIO) Gulam Waris Ali have been removed from his post in view of the conflicting reports over violence in the city. Waris Ali has now been attached to the headquarters. After the transfer, the DIO was relieved of his duties in the district.
Internet services restored after 4 days
Meanwhile, the internet services have been restored in the district four days after they were restricted in view of the unrest. Police have warned rumour mongers of strict action if disturb communal harmony.
