Dehradun: Due to prediction of bad weather conditions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Uttarkashi’ Mukhaba temple, the winter seat of Maa Ganga, and Harshil, has been postponed. Prime Minister Modi was expected to visit the two places on February 26.
The new date for his visit to Uttarkashi district is likely to be announced soon. The administration has already made its preparations for the PM’s visit to Uttarkashi. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday visited Mukhaba temple and Harshil to personally see the preparations for the PM’s visit at the ground level.
PM may visit in the first week of March
PM Modi may visit Mukhaba temple and Harshil in the first week of March. The state government aims to promote winter tourism across the hill state with the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Uttarkashi. The state government has already been promoting winter tourism to attract devotees to the winter seats of four shrines. So far, more than 30,000 devotees visited the winter seats of Char Dham- Ukhimath (Kedarnath), Jyotirmath-Pandukeshwar (Badrinath), Mukhaba (Maa Ganga), and Kharsali, (Yamunotri).
CM Dhami had requested PM Modi to visit anyone of the four winter seats
Earlier, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit any of the four winter seats or any tourist spot to promote the winter tourism in the state. Prime Minister Modi accepted his request. The state government swung into action to prepare for the PM’s possible visit to Mukhaba temple and Harshil, a famous tourist spot, on February 27.
PM Modi was supposed to address a public meeting
PM Modi was supposed to address a public meeting in Harshil. Accompanied by the state government’s top officials, including chief secretary Radha Raturi, CM Dhami visited Uttarkashi to personally inspect the preparations for PM’s proposed visit at the ground-level. However, the weather department’s prediction about snow and rough weather conditions led to the postponement of the PM’s visit.
Winter tourism is a new ray of hope for local people
Char Dham Yatra is a major source of income for the local people. The state government has now given special focus to promote winter tourism which may become another source of income for the local people.
