Mumbai: Baba Siddique, former minister of Maharashtra and father of MLA Zeeshan Baba Siddique and Arshia Siddique, passed away after being shot dead by assailants in Mumbai on Saturday night.
His funeral prayers, Namaz-E-Janaza, will be held on Sunday (October 13) at 7 pm after Magrib Namaz at Maqba Heights, Pali Road, Bandra (West). The burial will take place at Bada Kabarastan, opposite Marine Lines Station at 8.30 pm.
Siddique’s body sent for postmortem
Police moved Baba Siddique’s body from Lilavati Hospital to Cooper Hospital on Sunday morning for a postmortem. Siddique, aged 66, was attacked around 9.30 pm on Saturday when three men shot him outside his son’s office in Kher Nagar, Mumbai. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead upon arrival.
Two of the assailants have been arrested by the police, one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana. The police are actively searching for a third suspect.
Two angles being probed
The police are investigating the incident from multiple angles. One focus is a potential dispute over a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project. Reports indicate that Siddique may have assisted Pyramid Developers in a Bandra project linked to a Rs 2,000 crore scam.
Another angle being explored is a possible connection to the notorious Bishnoi gang, as Baba Siddique was known to be close to actor Salman Khan. Initial investigations suggest that the suspects had been monitoring the area for 25 to 30 days before the attack.
Additionally, there are indications of political rivalry playing a role in this high-profile murder case.
