New Delhi: The Mumbai Crime Branch recorded the statement of Zeeshan Siddiqui, the son of NCP MLA Baba Siddique who was shot dead on October 12. Baba Siddique was killed in front of Zeeshan’s Bandra office in Mumbai.
In the murder case of Baba Siddique, the statement MLA Zeeshan Siddique was recorded for the first time. The statement was recorded at Zeeshan’s home.
During the recording of statement, the crime branch team reportedly put up several questions before Zeeshan, including whether he received any threats from anyone, if he suspected anyone and whether there were any political or business reasons involved in the killing. Did they face any previous threats from the shooters? the sleuths wanted to know.
Earlier, Zeeshan Siddique had visited the crime branch three times and had shared and discussed case-related information with the commissioner and the joint commissioner. For the first time, the crime branch team went to his home to record the statement.
What crime branch team tried to explore
During the recording of Zeeshan’s statement, the sleuths of the crime branch tried to explore what happened on the day of the incident? When did Zeeshan’s father leave the office, and who was with him? How many security personnel were there? Why did Zeeshan remain in the office at the time of the incident? Who informed him that shots had been fired and that his father had been killed?
He may also have been reportedly asked whether he or any of his close associates ever noticed the attackers or conspirators? Did they ever have any suspicions about someone lurking around their home or office? Were there any doubts about anyone behaving suspiciously as if they were surveying them? Does he believe that the Bishnoi gang was contracted to carry out the hit on his father? Does he think that the Bishnoi gang actually carried out the murder due to their connections with Salman Khan?
The team also explored if Baba Siddique’s murder is linked to Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project in which he was involved.
According to the Mumbai Joint Commissioner of the Crime Branch, after Siddiqui’s statement, the crime branch will investigate the statements given by the shooters to determine what the motive was and what the reasons were. So far, no disclosures have been made regarding the motive behind the murder.
