Mumbai: The trial of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique’s murder case will be held in a fast-track court, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Sunday. He further said that encounter specialist Daya Nayak would investigate the case.
He added that the Mumbai Police has been asked to maintain law and order in the city and ensure that nobody takes the law into their hands. The chief minister maintained that Strict action would be taken against those found guilty in such incidents.
Guilty won’t be spared: BJP
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that those found guilty in the murder of Baba Siddique won’t be spared, It also also slammed the Opposition for indulging in politics on the murder of the NCP leader.
Siddique was reportedly shot dead by the three accused in Mumbai last evening. At the time of his murder, the former Maharashtra Minister was outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office. The Opposition has questioned the law and order in the city after the murder.
‘Baba Siddique was a great human being’
Speaking about the incident, BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said Baba Siddique was a great human being. He added that while two persons have been taken in custody, the case is being probed further.
According to news agency PTI, a Special Cell team of Delhi Police will help the Mumbai Police to probe the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. “A team comprising four to five members from the Special Cell will go to Mumbai to investigate and assist the Mumbai Police. The team will look into the gangster angle,” the agency reported quoting a source.
