The trio, consisting of Nikita Singhania, her mother, and brother, had sought bail in the Bengaluru session court. They had previously appealed to the Karnataka High Court, requesting it to instruct the session court to expedite the disposal of their bail petitions. The High Court then directed the session court to make a decision today.
Arrest of Nikita
On December 14, Nikita Singhania was arrested in Gurugram, while her mother and brother Anurag were taken into custody in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Atul Subhash died by suicide after allegedly being pressured to pay Rs 3 crore for a divorce. His body was found on December 9, along with a 90-minute video and a 40-page note in which he detailed the harassment he faced from his wife and in-laws.
FIR registered
After his death, Bengaluru Police arrested Nikita Singhania, her mother, and brother, who were later placed in 14-day judicial custody. An FIR was filed under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint from Bikas Kumar, who accused the family of abetting the suicide. During the investigation, Nikita denied the allegations, claiming she had been a victim of harassment herself. She stated that she had been living separately from Atul for nearly three years and questioned why she would harass him for money during that time.
