‘Atrocities on Hindus not just…’: Sadhguru calls for action as Bangladesh violence spreads fear

New Delhi: Amid the alleged attacks on houses, temples and business units of Hindus in Bangladesh, spiritual leader and founder of Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has issued a stark warning, highlighting the responsibility of India to protect minorities in its neighboring nation.

In a statement on social media, Sadhguru condemned the alleged attacks on Hindu homes, temples, and businesses, declaring that these atrocities are not merely an internal matter for Bangladesh. “Taking to the social media platform X, Sadhguru wrote, “The atrocities being perpetrated against Hindus is not just an internal matter of #Bangladesh. Bharat cannot be Maha-Bharat if we do not stand up and act at the earliest to ensure the safety of minorities in our neighbourhood. What was once part of this nation unfortunately became a neighbourhood, but it is our responsibility to protect these people–who belong to this civilisation–from these shocking atrocities,” he stated, emphasising the shared cultural heritage that binds India and Bangladesh.

The violence, sparked by protests against the 30% job quota for descendants of freedom fighters created a wave of fear and unrest in Bangladesh resulted in the exit in former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Reports from various districts detail incidents of vandalism, looting and arson targeting Hindu communities.

However, several videos emerged from the violence-hit country on Tuesday showing student volunteers guarding the temples during night. In a message broadcasted over loudspeakers from mosques, the students could be seen in the video calling for communal harmony, emphasising the responsibility of every citizen to safeguard the lives and property of Hindus. They urged vigilance against violence or discrimination, urging everyone to stand united in support of peace and understanding.
