New Delhi: The first session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly after Atishi took over as the chief minister began on a stormy note on Thursday after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and BJP MLAs shouted slogans against each other, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings briefly.
As soon as Speaker Ram Niwas Goel announced the names of leaders set to raise issues in the House, BJP leaders objected, insisting that their concerns also be addressed. This led to both AAP and BJP leaders raising slogans against each other, prompting the speaker to adjourn the proceedings for 15 minutes.
Additionally, BJP MLAs demanded that the pending CAG reports be tabled in the House. The LG Secretariat sent a letter to Chief Secretary Dharmendra and Finance Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma, directing them to present the pending reports of the apex auditor, CAG, in the assembly during the ongoing session, after informing the chief minister about the matter.
The new government, led by Chief Minister Atishi, is expected to seek a vote of confidence in the House on Friday.
The House reconvened again to discuss issues related to the constituencies of each of the 280 members. AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar raised the issue of recruiting bus marshalls.
