New Delhi: After resigning from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal’s seat in the Delhi Assembly has been changed.
Kejriwal, who previously occupied seat number 1 in the Delhi Assembly, has now been allotted seat number 41. Newly appointed Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has been allotted the first seat, according to the updated seating arrangement. Earlier, Atishi used to occupy seat number 19.
Saurabh Bharadwaj allotted seat no. 2
The seating arrangement of several Delhi ministers, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, Mukesh Ahlawat and Kailash Gahlot, has also been changed. Saurabh Bharadwaj has been allotted the second seat in the House. Earlier, he occupied seat number eight.
Mukesh Ahlawat, inducted into the Delhi cabinet recently, has been given seat number 14. Earlier, Ahlawat used to occupy seat no. 18. Kailash Gahlot has been given seat no. 8. Earlier, his seat no. was 2.
Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Mansih Sisodia, who was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the liquor policy case, has been allotted seat number 40.
Besides, the seat of Vijender Gupta, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has also been altered. Gupta, who was earlier given seat no. 94, has now been allotted seat number 100.
On September 23, Atishi took charge as the Chief Minister of Delhi, and the new seating arrangement has come into effect now.
As she took office on Monday, the new Delhi CM Atishi had refused to sit on the chair of Arvind Kejriwal and placed it beside her own as a mark of respect and honour for the former chief minister. She sat on different chair, saying Kejriwal’s seat will remain in her office until the February 2025 polls when the AAP chief will once again become Delhi’s top elected official.
Stormy start to session
There was chaos and pandemonium on the first day of the two-day session of the Delhi Assembly that began on Thursday. Loud sloganeering by BJP and AAP leaders against each other reverberated the House. The new Atishi government is expected to seek a trust vote on Friday in the House.
