Ahmedabad: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during his tour to Gujarat on Saturday, visited Kalupur railway station and unveiled the new station design. On this occasion, he displayed a humble gesture by sitting on the ground with the labourers and workers engaged in the construction of the bullet train project. He congratulated them for their hard work and dedication toward building the nation and even took selfies with them.
The workers were overwhelmed by the minister’s presence and respect. They enthusiastically raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” Expressing their emotions, they said, “When the government and ministers give us so much respect, we will dedicate ourselves completely and are ready to sacrifice everything for our work.”
What Vaishnaw said about bullet train project
Speaking about the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, Vaishnaw said that around 360 km of track on this route had been completed. He acknowledged that the project faced a delay of two and a half years due to the previous Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, not granting permission at the time.
However, the Railway Ministry is making efforts to recover the lost time and ensure timely completion.
Unique features of bullet train
The Railway Minister highlighted some unique aspects of the bullet train’s construction. He said that a special steel bridge was being built as part of the project. The train, designed to run at a speed of 350 km per hour, requires advanced technology and infrastructure to withstand the pressure created at such high speeds.
Once operational, the bullet train will significantly improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Major cities like Vapi, Thane, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad will be connected efficiently, transforming them into a single economic zone and boosting trade, travel, and employment opportunities.
