New Delhi: As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stares at a humiliating defeat in its bastion – Delhi at the hands of BJP with the latest counting trends giving a clear majority to the saffron party, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and assembly speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan reportedly arrived in the national capital to meet Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday.
Sources said the meeting will take place at Kejriwal’s Firozshah Road residence as the former Delhi CM reels with the shocking defeat both in Delhi and the New Delhi constituency which he lost to BJP’s Parvesh Verma by a margin of more than 3,000 votes.
The AAP is currently in power in Punjab with Bhagwant Mann being the chief minister. Interestingly Mann started trending on X as soon as the counting for the Delhi assembly election gave a clear lead to the BJP with people floating their theories about Kejriwal’s next move after losing Delhi.
Delhi Assembly Elections Results 2025
The BJP was poised for a resounding return to power in Delhi after more than 26 years, decisively sweeping the Aam Aadmi Party from the national capital in yet another major victory that expanded its influence across the country.
As votes were counted for the 70-member Delhi Assembly elections held earlier this week, trends and results from the Election Commission website indicated the BJP leading in 48 seats, while the AAP was ahead in 22.
Party veteran and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia conceded defeat in Jangpura, while Chief Minister Atishi secured a win in Kalkaji.
The Congress, which had ruled for 15 years under Sheila Dikshit, came up nought in the bipolar contest.
