New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has claimed that he received information suggesting an upcoming CBI raid on the home of senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia. The claim comes after Kejriwal’s recent prediction of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi’s arrest on fabricated charges and his warning about potential raids on other AAP leaders as the Delhi Assembly elections approach.
“I had said a few days ago that Delhi CM Atishi ji would be arrested and some AAP leaders would be raided. According to reliable sources, there will be a CBI raid on Manish Sisodia’s house in the next few days. The BJP is losing the Delhi elections. These arrests and raids are the result of their frustration,” he wrote in a post on X.
Sisodia to contest polls after 17 months in jail
After spending 17 months in jail after his arrest, Sisodia has been nominated by AAP to contest from the Jangpura Assembly seat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has repeatedly accused the BJP of exploiting central agencies to target and imprison opposition leaders. Recently, Kejriwal said that Delhi Chief Minister Atishi could soon face arrest in a fabricated transport case, saying the BJP was rattled by the AAP’s welfare initiatives like the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana.
During a press conference with Atishi present, Kejriwal said that key central agencies, like the ED, CBI and Income Tax Department, had recently met, with instructions issued from the top to arrest Atishi and raid senior AAP leaders. He further said that the agencies were instructed to target Atishi by fabricating a case against her.
Kejriwal accuses BJP of voter manipulation
Kejriwal also accused the BJP of distributing money in the New Delhi constituency to sway voters against him. He said that the BJP had been manipulating the electoral process through a scheme named “Operation Lotus.” According to him, since December 15, the BJP had been working to influence the upcoming elections by trying to alter the voters’ list.
Kejriwal said that applications had been submitted to remove 5,000 voters and add 7,500 new ones, affecting around 12 per cent of the votes in the constituency. Atishi agreed with Kejriwal’s accusations, asserting that the BJP was using every possible tactic to rig the election.
