New Delhi: The students can apply to the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kanpur’s BTech and BS programmes through Olympiad scores. The admission will be made in the five departments of the BTech-BS programmes from the academic year 2025-26. The departments are-Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Economic Sciences, Maths and Statistics. The candidates can check and apply on the official website- iitk.ac.in.
Eligibility criteria:
- The candidate should have appeared for the Class 12 or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- The candidate should obtain first class marks in the qualifying exam
- The candidate’s age limit should be same as that of the JEE Advanced candidates for the corresponding year
- The candidate should not take admission to an IIT through JoSAA in the previous year
- The candidate should have attended the International Olympic Training camp in the discipline
- The candidates whose admission to IITs was cancelled are not eligible to take admission through Olympiad scores.
Department-wise selection process
Biological Sciences and Bioengineering: One candidate will be selected through Mathematical Olympiad or from Biology/Physics/Chemistry Olympiad. If there is a common candidate in Maths and Biology/Physics/Chemistry Olympiads, the candidate will be considered in the admission process in which he/ she has a higher rank.
Computer Science and Engineering: Three candidates will be selected from Mathematics Olympiads/ Informatics Olympiads. Applicants holding ranks in both Maths and Informatics Olympiads will be considered for the admission process.
Chemistry: Candidates from the Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INChO) training camp will be considered
Economic Sciences: Candidates from Maths Olympiads training camp will be considered
Maths and Statistics: For Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Scientific Computing, two candidates will be selected and two candidates for Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Data Science. Candidates selected for International Mathematics Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) will be considered.
The list of candidates recommended from each department for each programme will be sent to the institute level selection committee. The committee will comprise of Dean of Academic Affairs, Head of the Department, Convener, DUGC, Faculty representative, DOAA official.
