Apple is acquiring Pixelmator, the software company which is known for its photo-editing app. Pixelmator revealed in a blog post that their team plans to join Apple. “We’ve been inspired by Apple since day one, crafting our products with the same razor-sharp focus on design, ease of use, and performance. And looking back, it’s crazy what a small group of dedicated people have been able to achieve over the years from all the way in Vilnius, Lithuania,” Pixelmator said.
This is based on an agreement to be acquired by Apple, subject to regulatory approval. However, the photo-editing giant has confirmed that there will be no change in the way the company works. Image editing apps Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator will not face any material change. Pixelmator’s apps have always been designed specifically for Apple’s platforms, available only on Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
Apple’s Investment In Photo-Editing Apps
While the acquisition is confirmed, unfortunately, Apple didn’t reveal how much it paid for Pixelmator. However, this deal is clearly part of its constant focus on creative tools as in the past couple of years, Apple has made similar moves. Earlier, Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro joined its lineup for music and video editing. Now that Pixelmator is part of Apple, the company is strengthening its position in photo editing.
