Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon’s live concert. It will take place on Saturday at the Rally Ground in Sector 25. To manage the expected crowds, certain roads will face restrictions and diversions starting from 4 pm.
As part of the arrangements, three designated parking areas across the city will be available, with shuttle buses transporting attendees to the venue. No parking will be allowed at or near the Rally Ground.
Traffic Advisory and Restrictions
The police have advised avoiding the road sections near Sector 25 Rally Ground, the Sector 25/38 dividing road, and the Sector 14/25 dividing road up to the Dhanas turn. Traffic is expected to be heavy at key spots such as Sector 14/15/24/25 Chowk, Bhaskar Chowk (between Sector 24/25 and 37/38), Dadu Majra light point near the Dumping Ground, and Yatri Niwas Chowk (between Sector 23/24 and 15/16). It is recommended to stay clear of these areas, especially in the evening.
From 4 pm, entry will be restricted on the Sector 25/38 dividing road and the Sector 14/25 dividing road up to the Dhanas turn. Commuters are urged to use Madhya Marg and Dakshin Marg for city travel, the police said. Over 200 trucks and 300 personnel will be involved in setting up the event infrastructure. Organizers have assured the public that efforts will be made to minimise any problems for residents.
Event Highlights and Speculations
Speculation is also rife about a surprise celebrity guest appearance at the concert. At a previous event in Mumbai, Dhillon was joined on stage by Mallika Arora as he performed “Peale pyaar di Pelli kahani.” In Delhi, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Jazzy B appeared alongside him, with Dhillon expressing his gratitude for their contributions to popularizing Punjabi music, stating, “Punjabis were always here.”
