Kanpur: Another major train accident was averted in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur after the loco pilot stopped the train after spotting a small cylinder on a railway track near the Prempur railway station in Maharajpur village of the district.
The police and railway officials reached the railway station just after receiving the information and the probe has been initiated in the case. Notably, this is the third such incident in Kanpur in recent times.

Earlier this week, an attempt was made to derail the Dehradun Express train on the track near Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. As per reports, an old iron telecom pole was kept on the railway track near the railway station. A major accident was averted after loco driver applied brakes on time and prevented a major accident.
The Dehradun Express (train number 12091) was passing through from the spot at around 11 pm last Wednesday, when the locomotive driver spotted the pole on the railway track and stopped the train, preventing a possible derailment.
The police and GRP team reached the spot after receiving the information and removed the pole immediately from the track. Following this, the authorities also started the probe into the incident. The incident occurred on the railway line at kilometer 43/10-11 of Bilaspur Road, passing behind Balwant Enclave Colony in Rudrapur, said reports.
Inspection carried out again the next morning again
Another round of inspection at the site was carried out again the next morning, during which officials gathered information from the locals. On questioning, the locals claimed that some miscreants consumed drugs on the railway line that passes through the colony. The miscreants are also behind minor thefts in the area, locals claimed further.
