New Delhi: Fearing extradition to India and prosecution for his criminal activities, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi has reportedly sought asylum in the US after being arrested in the country. Sources say Anmol has written to American authorities requesting asylum and may use surrender as a tactic for this purpose.
The Indian government and its agencies are currently working with their US counterparts to extradite Anmol over his involvement in several criminal activities including the firing outside Salman Khan’s house and the murder of politician Baba Siddique in Mumbai.
It is believed Anmol’s attempt to seek asylum, thus offering to surrender in the US is part of his tactics to avoid extradition to India. He is currently lodged in the Pottawattamie County Prison in Iowa state. The arrest in the US reportedly came after India shared information about his illegal entry into the US.

The Mumbai Police, which is probing the two high-profile cases, have learnt about this development and are in touch with central agencies to gather more information about Bishnoi’s asylum request. He is also alleged to have provided support to those responsible for the 2022 murder of Sidhu Moosewala. Furthermore, Canadian police may request access to Bishnoi in connection with ongoing investigations into gang-related cases.
According to sources, before his detention, Bishnoi applied for asylum through the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. With the asylum proceedings now underway, his extradition to India or any other country is unlikely. Interpol has issued a Red Notice for Anmol Bishnoi, and the FBI is reportedly verifying his identity while collaborating with Indian agencies for a potential deportation.
