About the Amravati airport
The airport was originally built in 1992 as a brownfield facility for non-scheduled flight operations. Since then, many upgrades have been made including a newly constructed runway that is 1,850 meters long and 45 meters wide. Not only this, apron facilities have also been added to the airport, allowing the accommodation of two ATR-72 aircraft or similar types. Similarly, there is a dedicated parking stand for CRJ-200 or similar aircraft, as per the reports.
The newly built terminal building occupies an area of 2,623 square meters and can adjust up to 100 arriving and 100 departing passengers at the same time. The airport has a state-of-the-art Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, which is 26 meters tall, to enhance operational safety and efficiency. Apart from this, the construction of an Air India Flight Training Organization (FTO) is currently underway.
