New Delhi: The discussion about BJP MLA Nainar Nagenthran becoming the next state president of the party amplified as Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Chennai for two days. Nagenthran was in Delhi on Monday on the invitation of the party high command, where he met with party leaders, including Amit Shah, as per the sources.
As per the reports, Amit Shah will be in Chennai for two days, with a meeting organised with RSS ideologue and journalist Gurumurthy, as well as discussions with other prominent leaders. This visit comes between speculation related to Nainar Nagenthran replacing K. Annamalai as the Tamil Nadu BJP president.
According to the schedule, Amit SAmit Shah, Gurumurthy, RSS, AIADMK, Tamil Nadu, BJP MLA Nainar Nagenthran, BJP, hah will be having a meeting with Gurumurthy on Friday at his residence in Mylapore. As per the sources, the meeting will focus on the current political landscape in Tamil Nadu as well as the country. This visit is after a recent meeting in Delhi with an AIADMK delegation led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
In a recent programme attended by Shah, he confirmed discussions with AIADMK and stated that an announcement would be made at a suitable time. Whereas the AIADMK is reportedly interested in Annamalai stepping down to enable a smoother alliance between the two parties. As per the sources, no meeting between AIADMK leaders and Shah is planned during the Chennai visit.
There is also buzz within the party that Annamalai can be offered a position during the next reshuffle in the Union cabinet.
