Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah celebrated the Makar Sankranti along with Memnagar locality residents in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. The Shantiniketan Society, where the celebrations took place was decorated with colourful kites and rangoli. The Union Minister was given a warm welcome along with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel after reaching the society.
Shah also enjoyed flying kites from the roof of a building. Both leaders also wished everyone a joyful Makar Sankranti. “‘Makar Sankranti’ is a festival of unwavering faith in Indian culture and tradition. Heartiest greetings to the countrymen on this holy festival of energy, enthusiasm, and progress,” Shah said on X.

Amit Shah lays the foundation stone for the Police Line complex
Shah also laid the foundation stone of Gujarat’s largest Police Line, for serving police personnel. Close to 920 families will be accommodated here after the houses come into pending. The project consists of 18 towers of 13 floors each. The area where houses will be spread over an area of 23,697 sqm in the Ghatlodia area. Each flat will have 2-BHK with a carpet area of 55 square metres. The complex will also have Ghatlodia police station on two floors in one of the buildings, the government said in a statement. The complex will have a basement parking for 930 cars. Apart from this, there will be two lifts, an open garden, and a water harvesting system in the complex.
PM Modi extends warm wishes to countrymen
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too extended his warm greetings to the countrymen on the occasion. “Many best wishes to all countrymen on Makar Sankranti. May this holy festival dedicated to the Uttarayan Sun bring new energy and enthusiasm into your life,” He wrote on X.
