New Delhi: In a scathing attack on the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress alliance, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the government of facilitating “love jihad” and land grabs by “infiltrators” from Bangladesh, using the issue to mobilise tribal voters in the upcoming state elections.
Addressing a rally in Seraikela, Shah alleged that “infiltrators are grabbing land by marrying our daughters” and promised to introduce a law to prevent land transfer to “infiltrators” who marry tribal women. He also pledged to form a committee to identify and expel these alleged infiltrators.
“Infiltrators are grabbing land by marrying our daughters. We will bring a law to prevent transfer of land to infiltrators if they marry tribal women. We will also form a committee to identify infiltrators to drive them out and reclaim land grabbed by them,” Shah said at a rally in Seraikela.
This rhetoric echoes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier statements, who accused the JMM-Congress-RJD government of supporting “Bangladesh infiltrators” and using them for political gains.
Shah’s attack also targeted the JMM’s treatment of former leader Champai Soren, who was briefly elevated to Chief Minister after Hemant Soren’s arrest and later removed after the party boss secured bail. Shah called the incident a “humiliation” of tribal people, a tactic to appeal to the JMM’s traditional tribal support base.
He further accused the JMM-Congress government of corruption and mismanagement, citing multiple scams including a Rs 1,000 crore jobs scam, a Rs 300 crore land scam, and a Rs 1,000 crore mining scam.
Shah promised that a BJP government would ensure transparency and accountability, guaranteeing that every rupee of central aid would reach the people.
He further amplified allegations of corruption against Congress, highlighting the seizure of Rs 350 crore from Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu’s residence and Rs 35 crore from Congress leader Alamgir Alam’s private secretary’s room. He alleged that these funds were meant for the development of Jharkhand but were embezzled by the Hemant Soren government. “I ask all of you… has anyone seen Rs 350 crore? But Rs 350 crore was found at the house of a Congress MP. 27 machines had to be brought to count the notes,” he said.
“Rs 30 crores were seized from Alamgir Alam’s residence. Whose is this Rs 350 crores… this Rs 30 crores? Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent this for the youth of my Jharkhand… but the Hemant Soren government ate this up…” Shah declared.
