Amid reports of resentment and switchover, Aparna Yadav meets Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: BJP leader Aparna Yadav on Monday met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath amid speculations that she was miffed with the party’s state leadership and was considering switching sides. The Uttar Pradesh government had last week appointed Aparna, who is also sister-in-law of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, the vice chairperson of state women commission.

However, Aparna was said to be not happy with the post and was also considering meeting the top BJP leadership. Some reports even claimed that she had reached out to senior Samajwadi Party leaders and was planning to join the party.

No more resentment?

Amid talks of resentment, Aparna Yadav along with her husband Prateek Yadav met Adityanath at his residence on Monday evening. The Chief Minister’s office also posted a picture on the social media platform X and wrote that Vice President of Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission Aparna Bisht Yadav along with her husband Prateek Yadav made a courtesy visit to the CM in Lucknow.

According to sources, Aparna has agreed to take charge as the Vice President of the state women’s commission after meeting the Chief Minister. Adityanath has also assured her of giving responsibility according to her stature.

Who is Aparna Yadav?

Aparna is the younger daughter-in-law of SP patriarch and former chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. She is wife of Prateek Yadav, who is step-brother of Akhilesh Yadav. She joined the BJP during the 2022 Assembly elections.
Before joining the BJP, she had unsuccessfully contested the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in 2017 from Lucknow Cantt seat as an SP candidate.

Last Tuesday, the UP government appointed Babita Chauhan as chairperson of the UP Rajya Mahila Aayog while Aparna Yadav and Charu Chaudhary were nominated as the vice-chairpersons of the commission for a period of one year or till UP government’s decision.
