Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, and Lallu Shreekumar among others. Did you know that this Diwali 2024 Tamil release is based on a true story?
Adapted from the book series India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, containing a segment based on Major Mukund Varadarajan, the main character of this film. Here is the real story behind Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran.
Is Amaran based on a true story?
Well, Sivakarthikeyan is set to play the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Indian Army officer and a recipient of the Ashoka Chakra Award. Part of the Indian Army’s Rajput regiment, Major Mukundan was martyred on April 25, 2024. The officer was given the highest military decoration posthumously for his valour during a counterterrorism mission on the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion.
Sai Pallavi will be playing the role of Indhu Rebecca Varghese, Mukund’s wife. Meanwhile, Bhuvan Arora is set to make his Tamil movie debut playing the role of Mukund’s colleague, Vikram Singh. The makers organised a special screening for Army officials and their family members in New Delhi on October 24, 2024.
While speaking about the film, Sai Pallavi shared her initial apprehensions about signing a biographical film. She explained how most male-lead biopics cut out the female counterparts’ portions. In an interview, Sai Pallavi revealed that she put the condition in writing, stating that he will not give her role the same fate. “Of course, I took that liberty with him, and he assured me that my character, Indhu Rebecca Varghese, is as important to the film as Major Mukund Varadarajan,” stated Sai Pallavi.
