‘Am truly delighted…’: Rahul Gandhi accorded warm welcome as he embarks on US trip

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, arrived in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday as he kicked off his three-day US visit. He was accorded a warm reception by the Indian diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress in Dallas city.

In a social media post, Rahul said, “I am truly delighted by the warm welcome I’ve received in Dallas, Texas, USA, from the Indian Diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC).”

He added, “I eagerly look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and insightful conversations that will further strengthen the bond between our two nations during this visit.”

This is his first trip to the US since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. As per the itinerary, he will be in Dallas, Texas, on September 8 and in Washington, DC, on September 9-10. He will hold meetings with the Indian diaspora on September 9 in Washington DC

On their posts on X, the IOC asked applicants to register for the event. According to the website of the organisation, the Texas meeting took place at the Toyota Music Factory in Dallas. On September 9, the Washington DC meeting will be held for three hours and will start at 5pm. The interaction with the Indian diaspora will be held at the Hilton Washington Dulles, near Dulles Airport.

Earlier on August 31, IOC chief Sam Pitroda said that the Indian diaspora diplomats, academicians, students, business leaders, leaders, international media, and many others are eager to interact with Rahul Gandhi

“There are a lot of events planned with a variety of people because we find that people also have a lot of interest in the states we run with a Congress government. We look forward to welcoming Rahul Gandhi to the US,” he added.

Rahul won two constituencies (Rae Bareli and Wayanad) in the recently concluded general elections. However, he resigned from the Wayanad seat in Kerala. This year in June, the senior Congress leader was chosen as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha after getting an approval from the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
