Dehradun: The death toll in the Almora bus accident has reached 36 and 19 were injured. Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat told reporters that the chief minister has announced to provide financial assistance of rupees four lakh to the family members of each deceased.
Those who are injured will be given rupees one lakh, he further added. According to him, the search and rescue and operation is still going on at the accident site.

Seriously injured persons are being air-lifted to AIIMS Rishikesh
He said four persons have received serious injuries in their skull parts. Three of the four injured persons have been transported to All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh with the help of Heli ambulance service. A team of doctors from the AIIMS will soon reach Ramnagar. Rawat further added that CM Dhami has directed to provide Heli ambulance services to all those who are required to send higher centres for medical treatment. SDRF teams are camping on the accident site to continue the rescue operation. Injured persons are also undergoing medical treatment in Ramnagar. Commissioner Rawat is also present in Ramnagar.

CM Dhami directed stern action against the officials responsible for the accident
Kumaon Commissioner Rawat said locals always first come to the rescue of victims of all such incidents. In the hill areas, the response time is short because of the distance, he mentioned. “Locals extended their all support in the rescue operation,” he remarked. He assured that officers who are responsible for the incident will not be spared. The Chief Minister has already directed stern action against the officials responsible for the accident.
Government has also ordered for a magisterial probe
The state government has also ordered for a magisterial probe into the Almora Bus accident. Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat has been asked to probe this incident. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has cancelled all his programmes, including his visit to New Delhi, in view of the major incident of Almora bus accident. He has rushed to Pantnagar by state plane. Those who are seriously injured, are being shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh, besides Sushila Tewari hospital. Meanwhile, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed to suspend the assistant regional transport officers (Enforcement) of Pauri and Almora districts.
