New Delhi: Taking a swipe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over digging at various Muslim mosques in the state, Samajwadi Party Chief claimed the existence of a ‘shivling’ below the residence of UP CM and demanded a digging at the site.
The Samajwadi Party president’s remark, though in a jest, came following a campaign of court ordered surveys at mosques in various parts of Uttar Pradesh including at Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid.
Shivling under UP CM residence?
Akhilesh Yadav made the remarks during a press meet in Lucknow on Sunday. Making the allegations, Akhilesh Yadav said that he knows that there is a ‘shivling’ below the residence of UP CM at 5 Kalidas Marg. Akhilesh Yadav has spent five years at the official residence when he was the UP Chief Minister from 2012 to 2017.
A local court in Sambhal district had ordered the survey at the Shahi Jama Masjid where the Hindu side claimed the existence of a mosque at the site. The mosque in Sambhal was reportedly build by a commander of Mughal ruler Babar.
Incomplete projects at Mahakumbh: Akhilesh
The SP chief and Lok Sabha MP also slammed the Yogi Adityanath government for not completing all the projects related to Mahakumbh slated to start in Prayagraj on January 13 2025. Yadav claimed that various projects are still incomplete but the invitation cards are being sent out.
Referring to a UP Minister’s comments asking SP chief to visit Mahakumbh and take a holy dip, Akhilesh Yadav said that Mahakumbh is an event where no one is invited and people go their on their own. He also said that he has visited the Kumbh several times.
Akhilesh demands election through ballot
The former UP CM has also demanded that elections be conducted in the country through ballot papers and not electronic voting machines (EVM). He also cited the example of Germany where ballot papers are used for voting.
