Bengaluru: Air India is planning to launch daily, non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London’s Heathrow Airport, starting October 27. The airline announced that the new flight services with an aim to boost international connectivity from the IT hub. It will replace its existing Bengaluru-London Gatwick route.
Earlier, there were five weekly flights to London from the Bengaluru. Now, the frequency of the flights to London has been increased to a full seven days a week. At present, the airline runs 31 weekly flights to London Heathrow from Delhi and Mumbai. After the launch of Bengaluru-Heathrow service, Air India will strengthen its presence on a major international route.
Bengaluru-London Heathrow non-stop flight: Aircraft, key features
Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft will be deployed for the new non-stop flight service. The aircraft is specifically designed for passenger comfort and efficiency. It will have 18 flat-bed seats in its Business Class and 238 spacious seats in its Economy Class. The increased frequency of flights will provide 3,584 seats per week on the route.
Besides this, Air India will continue to run 12 flights every week to London Gatwick from Goa, Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Amritsar.
Bengaluru-London Heathrow non-stop flight: Timings
Air India announced that new Bengaluru to London Heathrow flight – Flight AI133 will depart from Bengaluru at 14:20 hours and arrive in London Heathrow at 19:30 hours. During return, Flight AI132 will depart from London Heathrow at 21:05 hours and reach Bengaluru at 12:20 hours the next day. The airline added that bookings for Bengaluru-London Heathrow flights are now open via all platforms.
The airline recently also announced that all Vistara aircrafts will operate under Air India’s brand after the merger. The planes will be identified by a special four-digit code starting with “2”. For example, flight UK 955 will become AI 2955. This will make bookings ticket on Air India’s website easier starting November 12. Air India added that the routes, schedules and services for Vistara aircraft will remain unchanged.
