New Delhi: An Air India flight from Delhi to London, AI-111, took an unexpected detour to Copenhagen on Sunday after a passenger fell ill mid-flight. The crew, prioritising the passenger’s health and well-being, decided to land at the nearest suitable airport, where the passenger was immediately hospitalized.
Air India issued a statement acknowledging the medical emergency and confirming that the passenger, who was experiencing health issues, was deplaned in Copenhagen and taken to the local hospital for immediate medical attention. The airline lauded its ground staff at the Copenhagen airport for their swift response and efforts to minimize inconvenience to other passengers during the diversion. “Our ground colleagues at Copenhagen airport did their best to minimise the inconvenience caused to all the guests due to the diversion,” the official added.
Following the medical intervention, the flight resumed its journey to London. Air India emphasised its commitment to passenger safety and well-being, reaffirming that the decision to divert was made with the highest priority on the well-being of both the passengers and the crew.
