New Delhi: Indian online ticketing platform BookMyShow on Saturday delisted stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra following the recent controversy of one his shows in Maharashtra.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Shiv Sena official Rahool Kanal claimed that the Mumbai-based firm has taken off Kunal Kamra from the list of artists on its platform. Kanal, who is the social media in-charge of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena camp, thanked the portal for the moce and called it a ‘cleaning’ act to keep entertainment pure.
“Your belief in maintaining peace and at the same time respecting our emotions has been instrumental,” Kanal was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Reacting to a media organisation’s X post, Kamra enquired whether the development was confirmed by tagging the official X handle of BookMyShow.
“Hello @bookmyshow can you please confirm if I have your platform to list my shows if not it’s fine. I understand…” he wrote on his X handle.

However, when PTI made attempts to contact BookMyShow for a comment, their team refused to offer anything on the concerned matter. The portal didn’t even respond to Kamra’s query on X.
Although Kunal Kamra’s name still appears on the portal with his occupation still mentioned as ‘Comedian’ and his bio remains there, the content and listings of the artist have been allegedly removed from the ticketing website.
On Wednesday, Kanal wrote a letter to BookMyShow CEO Ashish Hemrajani, requesting him to delist the comedian from his platform. He mentioned Kamra as someone who engages in ‘sustained campaign of vilification and defamation’, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers.
The letter was written in the wake of Kamra’s parody song against Maharashtra DY CM Eknath Shinde.
