New Delhi: Soldiers of the Indian and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have exchanged sweets at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the occasion of Diwali. The development comes a day after complete disengagement between the two sides on Thursday in eastern Ladakh’s Depsang and Demchok plains.
The disengagement has ended a four-and-a-half years of military standoff between India and China. After disengagement completion, the two sides exchanged sweets on the occasion of Diwali. On October 21, India announced an agreement with China for patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Satellite imagery confirms disengagement
The new satellite imagery has confirmed initial disengagement in Depsang and Demchok (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
On October 21, India and China announced the patrolling agreement along the Line of Control which signalled progress in talks that led to resolving the border military dispute . Following the border disagreement in June 2020, Indian and Chinese forces clashed in Galwan that led to killing of troops on both sides.
