New Delhi: In more trouble for director Ranjith Balakrishnan a man has filed a sexual abuse complaint against him. The complainant belongs to Kerala’s Kozhikode. Earlier the renowned director was forced to step down as the chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy, following sexual harassment complaints against him.
Was sexually abused at star-hotel: Victim
In the latest complaint filed by the man to the DGP, Balakrishnan has been accused of sexual abuse. The abuse reportedly took place at a 5-star hotel in Bengaluru in 2012.
Reports claimed that the victim also shared his ordeal with the media. He claimed that the South India director saw him during the shooting of Mammootty-starrer ‘Bavuttiyude Namathil’ in Kozhikode and shared his contact with him. The number was written on a tissue paper, claimed the man.
The man then went on to allege that when he met Balakrishnan at the Bengaluru hotel, he was asked to get naked as the director wanted to check “how he looked”. The man was reportedly told that his eyes were beautiful and that he needed to just maintain good eyebrows. The man claimed that many other such uncomfortable things were said to him, which he cannot reveal to the media. He said he will tell everything to the police in his complaint. The man claimed that he was promised a movie role, but ever since the Bengaluru incident Balakrishnan has evaded him.
Complaint by actor Sreelekha Mithra
Earlier Bengali actor Sreelekha Mithra made similar allegations against Balakrishnan. She approached the Ernakulam police with a complaint against the director. She said that he allegedly made sexual advancements towards her.
The incident reportedly happened at DD Flats, Kadavanthra in Kochi in 2009. According to the actor she was called to act in a movie by Ranjith. She was asked to meet the director at his flat in Kaloor Kadavanthra, Kochi. She alleged that as the 2 discussed the film, the director clutched her hands and later tried to touch other parts of her body, all with a sexual intent.
The woman claimed that she soon realised that he had called her to fulfill his sexual desires and not for any script discussions. She claimed that she had to escape the flat and return to the hotel where she was staying.
Director dismisses allegations
Meanwhile the director Ranjith has dismissed all the allegations made against him as untrue. He claimed that he was innocent and would pursue the matter legally. He also claimed that the allegations against him have been made due to some agenda and that the person targeting him is also trying to defame the LDF government of Kerala.
