Bengaluru: The 15th edition of ‘Aero India 2025’ was inaugurated in Bengaluru on Monday. During the event, the various branches of the Indian defence forces as well as from 90 other countries will showcase their latest initiatives. A number of defense experts and officials are also participating in the event.
Among various initiatives in India Pavilion, the Indian Army will also include four-legged prototypes, which is one of its key projects. The project attracted attention during the Republic Day and Army Day parades last year.
Know about the robotic dog
A Delhi-based start-up Deftech & GreenIndia Private Limited (DGPL) is one of the handful of projects that have been explored in this space. The company’s robotic dog ‘Trakr’ a quadruped robot is participating in this year’s Aero Show 2025. Notably, among its other qualities, this robotic dog has the potential to manoeuvre through various terrains.
“We got lucky because we got a direct invitation as we won the Innovation for Defence Excellence (IdeX) challenge in 2023 (launched by Prime Minister Modi in 2018 to foster innovation and technology development in defense and aerospace),” said Wing Commander Anshul Jain (Retd.), General Manager, DGPL, while speaking to news agency PTI.
Notably, several various naval aviation assets, including MiG-29K, are being showcased in this year’s Aero India 2025. The Indian Navy is showcasing its Light Combat Aircraft in the exhibition area. Designed by the Aeronautical Design Agency (ADA), the aircraft has been manufactured by Bengaluru-based Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Rajnath Singh inaugurates the 15th edition of Aero India
The 15th edition of ‘Aero India’ was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The ‘Aero India event is considered the largest air show in Asia. Earlier on Sunday, Singh termed the participation of over 90 countries in the event as a “testament to the growing global confidence” in India’s aerospace and defense capabilities, the Defence Ministry statement said. The minister also expressed confidence that the defense production would cost more than Rs 1.60 lakh crore by the end of 2025-26.
