Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has assigned the spiritual body ISKCON the responsibility of providing food for police personnel deployed for security at Aero India 2025. The decision comes after repeated incidents of cockroaches and mites being found in the meals served to the policemen deployed at the ongoing Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru.
On Monday, worms were found in the food supplied to police personnel on duty at the event, prompting an immediate complaint at the Yelahanka police station. In response, the state government cancelled the contract given to a private catering company supplying the meals.
Video of worms in food at Aero India went viral
The issue gained widespread attention after videos and photos showing cockroaches and mites in the food went viral on social media. The revelations caused an uproar within the police force and sparked debates over the quality of food being provided to security personnel.
North-East Division DCP VJ Sajith confirmed that the matter was being taken seriously and assured that strict action would be taken against the contractor responsible.
Despite earlier complaints, contaminated food continued to be served by the caterers. Following reports of cockroaches in meals, the commissioner had directed that only quality food should be provided. However, on Monday, insects were found in the sweet dish served with lunch, leading to further dissatisfaction among police personnel.
