Thiruvananthapuram: Public outrage and anger simmered following the death of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu after he took the extreme step following the incriminating statements made by the Kannur district Panchayat president PP Divya at a farewell meet organized by colleagues in Kannur. Demand for her arrest is echoing with Congress, BJP pointing in-depth probe into the matter
The State Human Rights (HRC) Commission registered a case following the media reports and the HRC has issued a notice to the Kannur district collector directing the collector office to file a detailed report in the next two weeks.
At the same time, PP Divya is been missing ever since the tragic news of the death has come out. CPM leaders in Kannur have denounced PP Divya, but tried to defend her act by saying that she made the statement with ‘good intentions’ and not with any other malicious intent. Meanwhile, the family of Naveen Babu members who are CPI(M) party members and affiliates have demanded a detailed investigation on the matter and have been pushing for the arrest of PP Divya who is a CPM leader.
“We demand her arrest as it was her insensitive statement at the farewell meet that has led to him taking the extreme step the very next day morning. I know the ADM for the past two years and as per my knowledge he is not someone who take bribe. He was non-corrupt and someone who is liked by his colleagues. He has an excellent track record on his work front. The entire allegation over issuing license to the fuel station should be probed in detail”, said Sree Kumar, a colleague of Naveen Babu who was associated with him for the last two years.
Meanwhile, it was not just the opposition parties, but the members of left trade unions also demanded action against PP Divya for her alleged insensitive comments made at the farewell meet that led to the death of the ADM.
