Kannur: Even as two days passed since a complaint was filed to investigate the death of Naveen Babu, the ADM of Kannur, no case has been registered nor is PP Divya being questioned by the Kannur police even as it is evident that it was her speech at an uninvited farewell meet at Kannur that had eventually led to the suicide of the ADM who was about to be transferred to his home district in Pathanamthitta. Sadly, it was just seven months left for Naveen Babu to retire from his service.
According to the Kannur Town Police, an investigation is underway on the complaint filed by Naveen Babu’s brother. Police will record Divya’s statement today. At the same time, a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against the complainant Prashanthan, who alleged that Naveen accepted bribe from him. Prashanthan is an electrical department employee at the Government Medical College.
The statements of Naveen’s friends may also be recorded. The police will also check whether he shared anything with his friends about his mental distress.
Contrary to Divya’s claims ADM did not make a big deal on road curve
Even as Kannur District panchayat president and CPM leader P P Divya blamed then ADM Naveen Babu K for delaying the NoC for the petrol pump, citing a curve on the road, the proceedings issued by him show that this factor was weighed down.
“Matters have been examined in detail. All concerned, except the District Police Chief, recommended the setting up of this petroleum retail outlet. The District Police Chief, cannot recommend this outlet only on the basis of a curve in the road. But there is no provision in Petroleum Rules 2002 to deny the NoC on the ground of a curve of the road. The proposed site was inspected. No adverse factors were noticed. The premise is suitable for installing a petroleum retail outlet as per the Petroleum Rules of 2002; hence, it was decided to grant NoC to this outlet as applied for,” according to the proceedings issued by Naveen Babu. The No Objection Certificate (NOC) was issued on October 9.
