BJP-AAP faceoff over ‘pricey’ items Kejriwal’s bungalow
The AAP-led Delhi government had been at loggerheads with the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) over several issues like pollution in river Yamuna and ‘pricey’ items at Flagstaff Road bungalow, the official residence of Arvind Kejriwal while he was Delhi CM.
BJP has alleged that crores of rupees were wasted on the state-of-the-art household goods including a ‘missing’ hi-tech toilet seat in the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow which was occupied for over nine years by Kejriwal.
After stepping down as Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal vacated his Flagstaff Road bungalow earlier this month.
In a press conference, Atishi responded to the BJP’s allegations, stating, “The BJP can keep the house and allot it to any of its leaders. We don’t care about the house, bungalow, or car. We will continue to serve the people of Delhi, even if it means working from the street.”
The BJP had previously launched a campaign against Kejriwal, accusing him of irregularities in the reconstruction of the Flagstaff Road bungalow, which they dubbed “Sheeshmahal” due to its costly interiors and household items. A probe into the alleged rule violations in the bungalow’s reconstruction is already underway.
AAP, BJP spar as Yamuna froths, air quality remains poor in Delhi
Another issue that has kept BJP and the AAP in the logeerheads is Yamuna pollution, CM Atishi on Sunday said that the ‘dirty politics’ of the BJP is responsible for growing air and water pollution in Delhi.
The BJP hit back, saying the “immaturity and incompetence” of the AAP government have caused “severe” air and water pollution in Delhi.
The air quality index (AQI) in the national capital has begun to deteriorate with the onset of winter, while thick layers of toxic chemical froth have surfaced on the Yamuna River, particularly around Kalindikunj.
