New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has convened a meeting of its legislative members at 1pm today at the party headquarters in Delhi. The meeting will focus on the agenda for the upcoming assembly session, with reports suggest that discussions might also take place on the Leader of the Opposition post.
Following the Delhi assembly election results, AAP has initiated the process of restructuring its key and frontline committees. Party leader Gopal Rai confirmed this, emphasising AAP’s commitment to playing the role of a strong opposition. He said that the party will announce its Leader of the Opposition after the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected MLAs on February 24.
AAP criticises BJP over unfulfilled promises
Rai also said that AAP has conducted meetings with state officials from various party wings, including the Purvanchal Wing, Auto Wing, and Women’s Wing. Discussions were held on the restructuring process to strengthen the party’s core and allied organisations. The reorganisation of the main wing has already begun. Similar restructuring will also take place for other wings to ensure an active opposition in the assembly.
Meanwhile, Gopal Rai criticised the BJP over unfulfilled promises, particularly the pledge to provide Rs 2,500 financial assistance to women. He questioned why newly appointed chief minister Rekha Gupta did not announce the scheme in her first cabinet meeting, as was promised during the election campaign.
