AAP blames BJP, Delhi LG for Mayur Vihar tragedy, demands action against offficials

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena for the incident in Mayur Vihar-3, where a woman and a 2.5-year-old girl died. The party has also criticised the LG and central government for their silence on the issue and has blamed it on the negligence of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

In a press conference, AAP MP Sanjay said the incident was a result of the DDA’s negligence in not covering the construction site of a drain and not putting up markings.  The party has termed it as a case of “murder” and demanded that the central government dismiss the LG and take responsibility for the incident.

Singh further addressed the issue, slamming the BJP and LG for their inaction. Sanjay Singh said that the law and order in Delhi and the DDA come directly under the LG, yet they remain silent when it is their own fault. “This death is not an accident but a murder caused by the negligence of DDA and officials. When will BJP’s LG sahab punish and suspend these officers? A murder case should be filed against these officers. LG Sahib should come in front of everyone and take responsibility for this incident and take action against the officials,” he said.

Singh slams Chief Secretary’s audit order

Singh criticised the Chief Secretary’s order for a third-party audit of the desilting work, calling it an attempt to save himself. He claimed that the desilting work should have been done before the first rainfall and that the Chief Secretary was trying to shift the blame.

The MLA also discussed the issue of funds allocation to Delhi, saying that the city contributes Rs 2.07 lakh crore in taxes but does not receive its share. They demanded that the central government allocate funds to the Delhi Municipal Corporation.
