Jabalpur: At least nine people were dead and five others were injured in two separate incidents in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur and Maihar district on Monday. The authorities have launched a probe into both incidents.
Of the nine people who lost their lives, seven people were dead after their bus collided with a truck in Jabalpur. The bus from Andhra Pradesh was returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj carrying passengers.
Both accidents in Madhya Pradesh
The accident took place near Sihora town in Madhya Pradesh at around 8:30 AM in the morning. As per eyewitnesses, the bus was moving on the highway from the wrong side, leading to the accident. Several other passengers were also left trapped inside the bus when the accident took place. Jabalpur District Collector Deepak Kumar Saxena and Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay reached the spot after receiving the information.
The other accident took place in the Maihar district of the state in which two people lost their lives. Five people were also injured in the incident. The incident took place when the unidentified vehicle hit their SUV near Kanchanpur village at around 4 am, the police said. The SUV was returning to Indore from the Maha Kumbh at the time of the accident.
The injured were referred to the Satna district hospital after they were given initial treatment in Amarpatan. The two deceased were later identified as Manju Sharma (32) and Manoj Vishwakarma (42), he said. The police have taken the CCTV footage of the incident to find out the cause of the accident, officials said.
Four people died in another accident last week
Earlier this month, four people lost their lives while they were returning from Ujjain and were on their way to Ujjain, the state from the Belgaum district of Maharashtra. They were traveling in a minibus when their vehicle collided with a tanker truck, leading to the accident.
