New Delhi: Seven people, including four children, were killed, and 14 others were injured when a bus veered off the road and collided with three vehicles near Dwarka in Gujarat on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred around 7.45pm on National Highway 51 as the bus was traveling from Dwarka to Ahmedabad. Reports indicate that the driver swerved to avoid hitting cattle on the road, leading to a crash with a minivan, a car, and a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
Injured in hospital for treatment
“We received reports of a serious accident on the Dwarka-Khambaliya National Highway. The civil administration arrived at the scene before our team. Seven people have died, and the injured have been taken to Dwarka Hospital for further treatment,” said ASI Ravikant from the 6 Baroda NDRF Team to news agency ANI.
Of the deceased, six were in the minivan, while one was a bus passenger. The minivan was en route from Gandhinagar to Dwarka and was just a few kilometers from its destination when the accident occurred.
Most victims from Kalol in Gandhinagar
“Seven people have died, including four children, two women, and a man,” a police official told news agency PTI.
The victims were identified as Hetalben Thakor (25), Tanya (2), Riyansh (3), Vishan (7), Priyanshi (13), Bhavnaben Thakor (35), and Chirag Ranabhai (25). Six of them were from Kalol in Gandhinagar, while one was from Dwarka.
