Thane: In a shocking incident, a dog fell on a four-year-old girl from a building in a busy street in Thane city in Maharashtra, leading to her death, police said on Wednesday. The shocking incident that took place on Tuesday was caught on CCTV camera.
The video clip of the freak incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows the girl walking with her mother in a busy market when a dog suddenly falls on her from a building. However, it was difficult to ascertain from the video how the dog landed on the road – if it jumped or was thrown.
Girl grievously injured, died later
The dog fell on the girl from the fifth floor of a building, leaving the child critically injured, police said. The incident took place around 4.30 pm on Tuesday on a narrow, busy lane in the Mumbra area. The girl was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead by the doctors on arrival. The girl’s body has been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem and a probe is underway, police said.
Police are trying to check with the Thane Municipal Corporation if the dog owner had permission to keep a dog or if negligence on their part led to the incident. In her statement to the police, the girl’s mother said she did not suspect any foul play in her daughter’s death.
